I couldn't pass up the opportunity to pass along my reading suggestions after posting the Mindful Summer Reading list. This list is for a yogi or for someone who simply wants to be inspired by the teachings of these fabulous teachers and entertaining writers. I hope that you find the time to lounge under a tree canopy on a warm summer day and relish the words and thoughts of these writers/thinkers.
Awakening the Spine - Vanda Scaravelli
If you haven't read this book...you must! This is not only about yoga but more about how to live an open and full life. I have read this book easily 30-40 times and will continue to pick it up and find new inspirations
Wherever You Go, There You Are - Jon Kabat Zinn
I know that this was also on the Mindful Reading list but it is worth mentioning twice. A perfect book to have with you throughout the summer. Short passages of writing that always inspires and for me rings so true. A wonderful summer gift for someone!
If The Buddha Came To Dinner, How to Nourish Your Body to Awaken Your Spirit - Halé Sofia Schatz
I just read this recently and enjoyed its message. I love to cook and I love to eat. I love to nourish myself and others. Nourishment goes beyond food but extends to how we prepare it, how we shop, how we consume our meals. A good jumpstart to the fresh summer eating we enjoy this time of year.
What We Say Matters: Practicing NonViolent Communication - Judith Lasater
Every book by Judith is a teaching. This new book of hers has been another great teaching moment for me. It has opened up my way of choosing words and intending them for others.
Yoga The Spirit and Practice of Moving Into Stillness - Erich Shiffmann
I have never practiced with Erich Shiffmann but would love to some day. I really took a lot out of his writings in the book. Whether you are beginning a yoga practice or an experienced yoga practitioner, this is an insightful and helpful book.
Eat, Pray, Love - by Elizabeth Gilbert
If you haven't read this or seen the movie...its a good book for the beach or the dock. A lover of food and yoga will enjoy this light read.
Happy Summer Reading!
